This design has a reduced water absorption rate and creates huge air pockets, designed for irrigation systems that are used frequently. Hydro expanded clay pebbles feature an outer ceramic layer that limits water uptake, making them ideal for intensive irrigation hydroponic growing systems. Despite their density, the Hydrocorn clay pebbles will float in flood and drain systems. We recommend top feed systems for hydro, and flood and drain systems using our Gold Label Hydrocorn clay pebbles. Having a round shape ensures that the roots have as much air as possible. The closed, rounded shape of the pebbles prevents roots from attaching to them, making the substrate easy to clean and reuse.
